Semarang Magic Community: The First Magic Competition

Central Java Magicians got to show off at The First Semarang Magic Community Magic Competition held on the 26th of February 2011 at the atrium of Plaza Simpang Lima, Semarang. Semarang Magic Community collaborated with Indoreptilnesia, an Indonesian reptile community, to organize this unique event. Participants of Indoreptilnesia showcased their exotic reptiles, amphibians, and insects collections for display and sale.

 Contestants came from cities in Central Java province including Semarang. Approximately 20 magicians showed their best expertise in manipulation, mentalism, illusion, and comedy. Each magician had a 10-minutes show time. Participants were judged on their showmanship, skills, and general appearance. Judges were professional magicians and a non-magician.

The competition became spectacular by the performances of professional guest star magicians such as Wind Acemonte (from Yogyakarta), Rolly Malau (from Jakarta), and Botax Red (from Jakarta).

Audiences were dazzled by the unlimited mid air card productions, the mysterious multiplying canes, the appearance of a lovely princes from an empty box, a hypnotist act, predictions, daring and dangerous act such as piercing needle through tongue, and many more amazing magic shows.

Cards, confetti, and streamers were all over the stage by the end of the competition. At approximately 21:00 the judges announced the champions. The champions were Indra Ferano (a manipulator), Bebbo Denoberto (a comedy magician), and Cecil Danielo (a close up magician). Each won a trophy, certificates, and magic props such as the vanishing cane.
